I’m of the opinion that if you’re going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an expensive sports car, you should be out driving and enjoying it at every opportunity. But since I also live in a city that’s covered in ice, snow and road salt at the moment, I can understand why you’d want to put it in storage during certain parts of the year. However, even when sitting in a garage the vehicle can still get dirty or damaged, and that’s why the CarCapsule doesn’t seem like that crazy of an idea.

The capsule itself is made of super-tough, 10 mil PVC that’s not only anti-static and flame retardant, but is also impervious to oil, gas and antifreeze. Once you lay the base out on the floor, you simply park your vehicle on top and then zip the clear vinyl dome all around it. A built-in fan then inflates the dome, keeping it from touching the vehicle. Once it’s inflated though, the fan keeps running to constantly circulate the filtered air inside and keep the car smelling fresh while it’s in storage.

The CarCapsule is available from the AutoSport Catalog and ranges in price from $269 for an 8-foot version, to $419 for a 22-foot version.
