ThinkGeek Dual Bladed EZ Clam Shell Opener (Image via ThinkGeek)
By Shane McGlaun

As a professional geek and connoisseur of all things gadget, video game and movie related I tend to get lots of stuff packed in clam shell packages. You know the type I mean, those virtually impenetrable pieces of plastic with the gadgety goodness nestled deep inside. I have tried all sorts of methods over the years to open them without bleeding to death from the resulting nicks and cuts from the plastic packaging once it rips with varying degrees of success.

ThinkGeek has a new gadget opening gadget that anyone like me needs to buy. The Dual Bladed EZ Clam Shell Opener is designed specifically for opening clam shells and other packages. In addition to opening clam shells, the device can open boxes and cut those pesky child-proof labels that hold CD and DVD cases closed. Grab one of these in preparation for all the cool stuff you will get this Christmas at ThinkGeek for a mere $4.99.

T.M.X. Elmo Extra Special Edition (Image via Fisher-Price) By Shane McGlaun

Elmo toys have been a holiday staple and some of the hardest to find gifts for kids the last few years. To keep up that tradition Fisher-Price has announced a new T.M.X. Elmo Extra Special Edition that will be available on November 13. This new limited edition Elmo toy has new surprises that kids can discover by posing Elmo and tickling him in the correct sequence.

To distinguish the Extra Special Edition Elmo for the normal Elmo, the Extra Special version wears a gold badge. Fisher-Price includes a poetic hint with Elmo to help you and your kids figure out how to unlock the first surprise, which is a special song. Other hints will be provided via the Fisher-Price website in the coming weeks. The T.M.X. Elmo Extra Special Edition will retail for $39.99. If previous Elmo insanity teaches us anything, this will be one hard toy to find and will be selling on eBay for much more that retail.

Wii Game Blaster from dreamGEAR

By Shane McGlaun

Not too long ago we talked about the dreamGEAR Soft Sports kit for the Nintendo Wii. dreamGEAR is back again with another Wii accessory for the holidays. The Wii Game Blaster is compatible with any Wii FPS or shooting title. The $34.99 Wii Game Blaster combines the Wii Remote and Nunchuck into a wireless gun.

The Game Blaster is designed to break down at the touch of a button to allow you to go from shooting to throwing things like grenades easily. From the sounds of the Game blaster, breaking it into two pieces is easy, but I wonder how hard it is to reassemble. That could prove a problem while zapping zombie hoards. The Game Blaster has an ambidextrous design so all gamers should be able to use it.

Michael Knight Cast for New NBC Knight Rider Pilot

Knight Rider
By Shane McGlaun

Man when I was a kid I seriously loved Knight Rider. That was way back before Hasselhoff was a drunkard ex-life guard and was actually cool. NBC has plans to bring Knight Rider back to network TV in a 2-hour pilot TV movie with a Transformers inspiration to it.

How exactly the remake is going to be like Transformers remains to be seen, but we could easily assume Kitt will be a transforming robot like Bumble Bee, which is cool sounding. NBC has cast Justin Bruening in the lead role of Michael Knight for the pilot where he will play the son of the Hoffster from the original series. Let’s hope NBC forgoes the tight pants and big hair this go around.

dreamGEAR Launches Wii Soft Sport Kit

By Shane McGlaun

dreamGEAR announced a new Wii accessory today called the Wii Soft Sport Kit that includes soft foam bat, golf club, and tennis racket. Bonus items in the kit include a Wii fan to help keep your system cool and a Wii remote glove to give you a better grip.

Any parent who has played Wii Sports with a couple kids can tell you that after a while, someone usually ends up getting bashed with this sort of sport kit. The good part about this is that when one gamer bashes another with the soft foam equipment the likelihood of someone being harmed is much less. Plus next time my hands slip while playing Tiger Woods maybe the TV won’t get killed. The price for the kit is $34.99 and it is available now.
