skarp-2

The game of shaving hasn’t changed much in a few thousand years. But in the technological age, isn’t it about time we took a look at that? The Skarp Laser Razor uses a laser to shave. That’s right, a laser! The device itself looks somewhat like a regular razor, but it packs a specially calibrated laser that is able to instantly cut through hair.

Wavelengths of light had already been discovered that could cut through dark hair, but finding a way to cut light hair was proving incredibly difficult.

After years of research & development, the makers discovered a chromophore in the hair that would be cut when hit with a particular light wavelength.

Chromophores are particles that absorb certain wavelengths (colors) of light.

This chromophore they identified is shared by every human, regardless of age, gender or race.

The Skarp Laser Razor promises a close shave, with no scratches, no razor burn, no need for water or shaving cream. You’ll be able to shave at the same speed you always do, and you can even do it in the shower. One AAA battery lasts about one year, and the laser itself has a life of 50,000 hours. It’s low power so it doesn’t present a danger for your eyes and no, it won’t create a burnt smell as it does its thing.

To get your own, you’ll have to pledge $189 and wait until March 2016 for delivery.
