Beta-Evo-M59

By Chris Scott Barr

First Buckyballs, then a Mophie Juice Pack Air, now another contest!? That’s right, we know exactly what you guys love. Yes, you love reading about all of the latest gadgets and gizmos, but we know you love winning free stuff. So what’s on the plate for this week? A pair of cases from NZXT.

We’ve got both the Beta EVO and M59 chassis up for grabs. All you need to do is leave a comment telling us why you need to upgrade your PC case. You might be wondering why we left out the awesome Lexa S from the contest. Our friends over at GamerFront are having their own giveaway, with that as the prize. By all means, head over to their contest page and get signed up!

As David mentioned before, we’re going to be changing up the way we give away some of our prizes here at OhGizmo. This contest won’t be following the new rules just yet, but in the future we’re going to try to reward people that are more active commenters in general.

  1. Let me tell you about my case. It is a mini tower, the SAME mini tower I've had for a year or so, the same mini-tower that houses an ACER Aspire E380 (or w/e). The same POS which only has a 90mm fan for cooling, but the only original interior parts I have are the 2 sticks of 1GB RAM and the MOBO. The same case that has crap for ventilation and no freaking stubs on the bottom of the case so no air can get into the tiny tiny slits on the BOTTOM of the front part of the whole case. The same case I could cook eggs and bacon on for breakfast, and a fat t-bone steak for dinner. And while I wait for it to burst into flames when I play games, I'll just leave this little comment right here.

  2. I need a new case because my case has 2 funky sized fans. Not that much of a problem, but they are damn near impossible to get out, so even if I could find a replacement, it would be hard to replace. And to top it all off, one make an awful noise like the world is ending and it's starting with my computer. So I need to manually unplug which is just sad because now there is a cord that's not plugged into anything.

  3. Ok, I have a 6 year old dell dimension 3000 (ouch) that is as pretty as it is fast. on top of the 40 gig hard drive laboring under the few million applications I installed, the cheap plastic front is beginning to fall apart. On that note, I am looking to build a new computer from scratch when I came across ohgizmo…

  4. Oh please, please, please! My case is currently constructed out of ~30% tape, and a hodge podge of fans. I have no reset button, no drive bay covers, and my power switch dangles near lifeless from the front of the case. One screw holds the mobo cover on because the other threads are stripped. My power supply has 2 screws in it due to someone tweaking the case at some point. Please, oh please let it be me! No more beige!

  5. Oh, that's easy, I need a new case because I've been itching to build a new PC from scratch for a while now. My last couple computers have been laptops, and while I love them, there is nothing more satisfying than doing it yourself, and spending hours reading tons of reviews to get the best parts, and then more time putting it all together, and then even more hours trying to figure out why the hell when you play an MP3, your screen turns different shades of blue! And yes, I say that as a positive thing! 🙂 I've learned more computers and software from figuring how to fix something that is broken than anything else. So a new case would be a great way to get back into that fun habit of beating my head against the keyboard! 🙂

  6. I need a new case… I recently had to ship my entire desktop from Chicago to Atlanta, and although the box said fragile and it was packed very well, the box holding it came out almost demolished, and now there are significant portions of it that are broken all over….. The rear panel is now a joke, and I have to move my mobo around to get anything connected each time. A rectangle about 3 inches by 6 inches is missing from the front of the case. It looks bad, the fans make grotesque noises, and the thing isn't anywhere near as stable as it should be. I have been attempting to save up to get a replacement, but I owe money already, so I would rather pay that off first, while this thing isn't completely unusable.

  7. I have a case that is just about scrap. I got it used, and I think it have ENIAC on the side. The fans and ventilation are nonexistent. The I think the dust bunnies have grown to Dust T-Rexes and will take over. Did I mention it was ugly? It is an awful diarrhea brown.
I have a decent mobo and cards in it, but I am ashamed of it. I would like to retire it, but no money. A new case would be awesome, especially one of these too. They look fantastic and from what I have read are primo cases.
    Thanks!

  8. I have a Dell Optiplex GX280 that is a fine GP machine, but not when I play FSX, which eats RAM for dinner, with a nice plate of Pentium 4 CPU for desert.
I've never had a gaming rig, I've always wanted to, and I started drooling when I saw all of the posts. Since I've never had one before, I didn't know which was good and which was bad, the only thing that I know is that they all look awesome. Now that you have reviewed some of them, I know what I am going to use. So if I won one of these, it would make my day, and I would start on the PC right away. I would also only install games on it, no Skype, Outlook, or anything else, only games, to make sure it stays lightning fast, and keeps playing FSX!

  9. I need to replace a dying desktop and would like to build my own system, because I need a better computer, and I know I'll learn from the challenge, and because I think it will make me a better person. But I procrastinate, because I work and go to school and am lazy on top of those things. Winning a case, though, would be that first step that's so hard to take: picking “A” component instead of endlessly wavering over “THE RIGHT” component. Getting that case would be both a kick in the pants and the first step to my actually being productive. Help me out, maybe?

  10. I've been using the same case for the last six (yes, 6) years. It's had a multitude of different components come and go in it. The biggest problem now is that it's starting to literally fall apart. The vibration of the fans over the years has made some of the welds start to loosen, so if the fans speed up I get this lovely “errrrrrrrrrrrrrr” sound from the case vibrating against itself. That sound is a mood-killer, let me tell you. Absolutely frightens my dog. That parts a little amusing though, I can't lie.

Oh, and there's horrible air flow. I have to keep the side panel off if I don't want everything to overheat. This thing also is impossible to get to the drive bays. I have to completely remove my motherboard to swap out hard drives. And lastly, this thing is obnoxiously silver. That decision I can only blame on myself for thinking “wow, shiny!” A.D.D. is a bitch. A solid black case would go much better. So that's my story. I'm going to go stare at my shiny old case for now.

  11. I’m a struggling graphic designer who is completely lost since my ancient computer died on me, I don’t usually bother applying for these types of things but here’s to wishing

  13. I need a new pc because right now im trying to balance all my Ohgizmo browsing with everything else i do and it slows down my laptop if i had a new pc i could use it as a dedicated computer just to check out Ohgizmo and post tons of new comments.

  14. If I don't get a case, I'll be forced to fall back on my 'Plan B' project for the winter: designing a PC that can tell me how to reduce entropy in the universe–I'm calling it Multivac.

  15. I need this cause the last case I bought was this big mess with 2 large fans on the side that sound like the world is coming to an end for probably no additional cooling and you needed to use a frikkin screw driver and remove every section just to get in and pull the crap out of the pinwheels they called fans.

  16. I am currently using a full size tower, & it doesn’t fit in my desk’s CPU compartment, It is currently out on the floor where it can be kicked.

  17. I am currently using a generic case which looks no where near as good as the M59 and has no cable management. I am currently building a budget computer and winning this case would reduce the price of it by quite a lot

  18. I’ve been using a 2004 acer laptop for 5 years going, I finally found a job that now i’m thinking of building my very first desktop. Would be nice to win this because i’m on a budget and strapped for cash =(

and i'm positive i'd be really happy if i win 😀

  19. I need a new case because I have a 2001 Dell Dimension 4500. A few upgrades make it “do-able” for the internet, but that’s about it. I am in serious need of an upgrade!! I would love to get this case and make a custom, bad ass, gaming rig.

  21. I need a new case because I have a 2001 Dell Dimension 4500 that can only get me on the internet (one window only), and gets bogged down by those fancy online flash games. I need to upgrade and build a bad ass gaming rig from scratch and a new tower will inspire!

  23. I live with my boyfriend who is the hugest computer whiz I know about! We are both students and live in our own apartment together with 4 other friends. Everyday he goes to school and then after school he goes to work. All his money goes to the apartment, food and other stuff for us. I feel really bad, cause he only has a laptop now, and wants to build his own PC so bad, but he can't afford it. I don't work so my only income is my student loan, which isn't much, so he has to use most of his money on me… It would really be awesome if I could help him on his way to getting the ultimate PC by winning a case for him. He really cares about how his PC looks and these cases would be perfect for him.

  24. I need to build a new desktop, mainly because I don't have one! I personally have my lappy; I threw out my personal desktop a while ago( that pc was about 8 years old), but other pc's in the house are also bricks.

  25. My system makes a LOT of noise- and I figure that as long as it's going to roar by my side like a fighter jet, the least it could do is LOOK the part. I think the M39 would pull this off charmingly. : )

  26. Because my case was made out of hay, and this wolf came and blew it down, then I rebuilt it out of sticks and that bastard came back and blew that one down. I've run out of materials due to the economy and have a naked computer that the wolf wont leave alone.

  27. I need a new case because I cannot pull the power supply out of my current box so, when it failed, I put a new power supply in and had to leave the dead one in the box as well. Since I was unable to violate the space-time continuum and have two objects occupy the same space-time, I had to place the second power supply on the bottom of the case and leave the side panel off. Very ghetto (and probably a little dangerous). Add to that a 2 year old and 4 year old (both boys) who are very curious about the wires and flashy lights and my wife is going to banish me (and my franken-case) into the garage.

  29. The air circulation in my case is so bad that I have the side panel removed permanently and one of those awful clip fans pointing at my video cards. Yeah, the kind that grade school bus drivers inevitably seem to have clipped to their sun visors. Aside from that it's just years of grit and grime and several missing parts. Oh, and horrific tangles of wires filled with arthropod corpses.

  30. My case is so awful!! Its my parents hand me down computer. Its a 10 years old dell (beige)..and im in desperate need of a new case!
Problems: The reset button doesn’t work..so if my computer freezes i have to unplug my power cord and plug it back in. This dusty junk is so small, theres no room for my hard drive anywhere, so it dangles vertically inside my case from the power and ribbon cord. Only one 5.25? & 3.5? bay. This thing runs HOT too because it only have one fan, and is a dust magnet!!
Im going into college next year and have been wanting to build my own system for years now, but just can’t get the start. Winning this case would give me the start I need to build an awesome computer for college that will impress everyone! Please Gamerfront! BTW my mom said it was dumb for me to enter, and i would never win, so i would like to prove her wrong
    Thanks!!

  31. I desperately need to upgrade my case. I was recently upgrading my hardware and broke all the connectors for the side panel. The side panel is now being held on by electrical tape. I even folded an end on the tape to act as a quick release tab.

Course that doesn't come close to not having a front bezel. Again all the tabs for that broke when I first got it, so I've been rocking the no front look for awhile.

I'd love to get rid of this dilapidated hulk and replace it with a sexy new NXZT case to match the awesome fan controller I just bought.

  32. I have a 7 year old Shuttle breadbox case, with a ridiculous proprietary motherboard that's impossible to upgrade. This Athlon 2800+ just doesn't cut it anymore. I need a new case so I can start building a new machine.

  33. My case is a despicable robot, hell bent on destroying humanity, the only way that its abated is by consuming small animals. Every full moon it sprouts legs and runs amok on the local town causing thousands of dollars in vandalism, that is not limited to swapping street signs, raising the dead, placing sacrificial lambs on the mayor's lawn, destroying shrubbery, lighting communal art on fire, stealing presents for orphans, and then running them over while they watch their hopes and dreams crushed, taking warning labels off of everything so that 'the stupidity problem solves its self', setting the 'Goatse Man' as the desktop background at all of the computers in the local internet cafe, and last of all, ruining Christmas. I can exorcise the demon robot spirit that resides in the case, but first I must fool it into switching into a better home, like a hermit crab switching shells. When it's between cases I can smite its spirit back to hell, thus saving the kittens it plans to drown next month.

  34. I need a new case because my old case isn't cutting it anymore. I took a dremel to it to get the added functionality, but in reality kind of screwed it up in the process. I don't even have a front panel on my case anymore because I screwed up how the power and everything was connected. So the power button is hanging out the front of the case. I love the new evo and it does everything I want. It would be sweet to be able to get one of those. To be able to fit to hard drives in my case again would be sweet. I can't fit two anymore because I screwed up how hard drive cage works with my dremel. So thats why I need a new case.

  35. I need a new one because my beige case is no longer beige. It is now an unidentifiable shade of something or another. It is so old and has gone through so many upgrades, I fear it may have evolved into some new form of life. I think it is watching me right now, waiting patiently for its chance to strike. A shiny new case, that looks as intimidating as the one in the contest, just might scare away the old one.
