Wii Cooling Fan Accessory (Images courtesy Akihabara News)

Among the current generation of gaming consoles there’s no question the Wii is the least powerful of the bunch but what it lacks in graphical prowess it makes up for with a small form factor and quiet operation. However even though it’s not as powerful as the 360 or PS3 there’s still a chance the Wii can overheat and lockup particularly in a hot room. In fact I’ve had the Wii lockup on several occasions but I’m pretty sure it’s because the motion sensors can’t comprehend the fact that a human could ever swing a virtual bat as hard as I do.

But if you think overheating is the cause of your Wii lockups this simple cooling fan accessory is an easy solution to your problem. It attaches to the back of the Wii and uses the USB connection as a power source. At -25dBA the fan is extremely quiet and you don’t have to worry about the lost access to the Wii’s USB connections since the cooling fan includes 2 passthrough connections of its own.
