If you’ve ever done any sort of semi-serious home renovations, you might have ended up buying a stud finder. So you might be familiar with the concept of peeking behind your drywall in the hopes of figuring out what’s there. But regular stud finders are limited. Walabot is a device that connects to an Android smartphone (running 5.0 (Lollipop) and above with OTG) and lets you peek up to 4 inches deep, drawing a digital representation of what it finds, right on your screen. It detects plastic and metal pipes, electrical wires, as well as studs. You’ll see their shape an orientation, and will be able to cut through without worrying about severing something important. The $200 you’ll have to spend on this will be money well spent for anyone who takes their DIY game seriously.
