Earthquake Fridge

Japan is an earthquake-prone country, and manufacturers are incorporating some features into basic household appliances to account for this fact. For instance, take Sharp’s revamped line of Plasma Cluster refrigerators that are now equipped with smart earthquake detection systems. When the tremors start, some fridges topple over or spill their contents when the doors are opened. That means wasted food, supplies, and a huge mess to clean up. Well, not anymore. Thanks to the detection system, the fridge’s doors will automatically lock, so the food stays in.

Aside from that, these new line of refrigerators will also come with intelligent monitoring systems installed, which will monitor when the fridge is frequently used and open. This information is then used to optimize the fridge’s cooling schedule. Now that’s interactive.
