Clothes Horse

If you’re strapped for space and have a lot of laundry to hang, then you might want to embark on your little own DIY project and make something like this. That’s what Aaron Dunkerton did and it looks like he’s managed to hit two birds with one stone: first of all, his Clothes Horse fits way more than the average clothes racks and hangers. Second, it actually looks pretty neat–almost like a work of art, even.

When it’s in use and expanded in all its glory, his unconventional garment airer features 36 arms and takes the form of a 12-pointed star.

However, it’s not all about aesthetics. Aaron touches on another neat feature of the design, explaining: “The shape of my clothes horse when erect allows for good air circulation around the clothes, which will help them to dry faster. When it’s collapsed it is a lot smaller than conventional airers, but when expanded it has more drying arms, as well as having a more interesting form”

Aaron designed the Clothes Horse as part of his studies in product and furniture design at Kingston University.
