fat chairFor their 100th anniversary, Dutch company Arco asked twelve designers to submit their interpretation of how furniture might evolve, you know, in the future. This creation is the brainchild of Tjep, whose desription of it is to the point

As the proportions of people evolve to the standards of western consumerism so may the proportions of objects that surround us. This project is a preview. We designed this chair with super size aesthetics in mind.

In other words, in the future, people may be so fat, they might feel bad having to sit on skinny furniture.

Not for sale (as far as I know), it is on display at the Museum for Modern Art in Arnhem from the 26th of June until the beginning of September 2005.
