I can’t say for sure if this Shelby Slot Car Racetrack is truly the world’s greatest, since the last time I played with slot cars was sometime in the 80’s with my totally awesome A-Team spin-out set. But with over 63 feet of track and 2 miniature reproductions of the 1964 LeMans Shelby Daytona Coupe, I would be more than happy to find one of these sets under the tree on Christmas morning. The track features a 22 volt power pack and the cars were apparently “intricately reproduced to Shelby standards” and include Neo Dymium ground effect magnets to keep them stuck to the track and extra long guide pins to keep them on course. The $249 price tag from Restoration Hardware is a little steep, but it’s a lot cheaper (and funner) than filling your living room with boring old furniture.

  1. I have two of the first set with the black 7 and the silver 15, and one of the second set with the chrome 9 and 15. The cars are put up, replaced with four AFX GT40’s, and now the yellow #8 GT40 has been put up because of collector value replaced with the number 98 white GT40. The six GrandKids have a grand time when the slot cars are set up.
