The Golf Swing Analyzing Watch (Image courtesy Hammacher Schlemmer)By Andrew Liszewski

I’m no golfer but I have seen plenty of infomercials with various contraptions designed to help you analyze and improve your golf swing. So far this one wins when it comes to simplicity. It’s basically just a wristwatch with three built-in accelerometers capable of recording 200 measurements a second from the start of your backswing until you you make contact with the ball.

Then using proprietary algorithms the watch will display your tempo, rhythm, backswing length and club head speed which allows you to “quantify the elusive feeling of the perfect swing and to develop muscle memory that results in consistent, optimal ball-striking.” In addition the watch can record swing measurements for each club in your bag, has four scorekeeping modes, can track handicaps for two golfers, has stopwatch, calendar and alarm functions and can even tell the time.

And the $399.95 price tag from Hammacher Schlemmer makes me think this is the real deal and not just a novelty item.

  1. These things amaze me! I will not be able to afford one of these for a LONG time, I really think I’m going to need to make sure I’m in this golf business to stay before I think further on getting myself one of these!
