R2-D2 infrared-projecting keyboard

Tablets can’t replace laptops, although keyboard attachments are helping it get there. The big pain when it comes to working on a tablet is the on-screen keyboard and the limited functionality of some apps. While there’s little you can do for the latter, there are some alternatives you can try for the former, like the R2-D2 Infrared-Projecting Keyboard .

It’s neat, it’s compact, and it looks pretty awesome, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan (who isn’t?) The R2-D2 keyboard connects to your device via Bluetooth 3.0 and is compatible with Android, iOS, Windows 7/8, and OSX. When you “type,” the infrared sensor detects which letter your finger is on and turns it into a digital signal.

The coolest part? The sound effects the mini R2-D2 makes when you power it on, turn it off, type, or change the volume. Of course, you could also turn the sound way down if you need to work without any noise.

The R2-D2 Infrared-Projecting Keyboard costs $330.
