Looks like wood’s the new black. It’s popping up all over, like on headphones and even on audio systems. And now, Swedish company Swedx is adding to the wood-as-design-element madness with their wood covered LCD’s, keyboards and mice.
The idea is that people are increasingly fed-up “with plastic and want to return to the genuine”, this presumably being wood. From what I gather, the stuff is not actually made out of it, rather encased in it and you have your choice of many types, ranging from ashwood to beechwood.
The prices aren’t as exhorbitant as you would imagine them to be, with wood covered mice going for around $30. If you live in the US, you can visit an online store that will actually sell you these things, right here. Story VIA Treehugger.
