Family Tree1

Valentine’s is a day for couples. When you go out on February the fourteenth, you don’t see couples strolling around the park with their kids in tow; it’s usually a day that’s reserved for man and wife (or man and girlfriend) only. But why not do something different this Valentine’s and mark off the evening by doing something out-of-the-ordinary with your entire family?

A nice, not-so-quiet dinner with the gang, followed by a movie or some board games sounds ideal. Then, of course, comes the matter of gifts. I doubt kids will appreciate getting a couple red roses each, so why not splurge on something that the whole family can use and appreciate, like a family tree?

Family Tree3

I’d like to call it the Tree of Love. It’s a fun way to get the family together and you’ll be able to trace connections between the people who matter the most, from then until now. You could get your own or buy a ready-made family tree frame, like the one you see above, where all you have to do is insert your pictures. Better yet, you could buy some aluminum, twine, and crafts materials and make your own instead.

It doesn’t have to be an elaborately cheesy day, but at least it’s something the whole family can look forward to. Of course, you don’t have to do a family Valentine’s every year; just every other year or until your kids get their own girlfriends or boyfriends so they won’t have a very lonesome Valentine’s, just because they’re single.

The Family Tree frame is available online at Personal Creations for $49.99, along with a bunch of other family-centric personalized gifts.
