Sanyo has recently announced an external add-on for portable DVD players that will allow them to tune in television broadcasts via an old-school pair of antennas. With portable DVD players being so cheap and popular these days adding the ability to watch TV will only add to their appeal.
There is a downside though. Right now it seems this product is only destined for Japan and is designed to only tune in the digital broadcasts that exist there so importing the hardware is not really an option. However I can’t see a North American version being that far off given the amount of television we watch.
