It’s 9:37 pm: Do you know where your pet is? The RoamEO pet tracking system can help answer that question, as it includes a GPS collar and a handheld receiver; the collar continually broadcasts its position back to the receiver over a range of up to a mile. The receiver shows you your pet’s position, distance from you, direction of travel, and even velocity. You can even set up an electronic fence which will alert you if your pet travels outside of a preset boundary (the next generation will include a shock collar which will ‘alert’ your pet to the same). In the event of a lost signal (or if your pet gets too far away), the receiver will show a last known position and direction until you, running frantically, manage to get back into range of the collar. The RoamEO collar uses rechargeable batteries and the whole system, with one collar, is about $500. Additional collars are $160 each.
