Renault unveiled their Mégane Coupé Concept at the Geneva Motor Show this year and besides foreshadowing a new compact production coupe to be released some time in the future, the car also sports a pretty innovative pair of gullwing-like doors. The windows and the door are actually two separate pieces, but they both open at the same time with a movement that’s similar to dragonfly wings. And besides looking a lot cooler than the gullwing doors of the past, the unique system is also practical since it provides particularly easy entry and exit for passengers in the backseat.

Unfortunately though the dragonfly wing doors are one aspect of the concept that will definitely not make it into the new production coupe. But if they can manage to keep it close to the appearance of this concept I’m sure their dealers will have no trouble getting them off the lot.
