My dreams of becoming a skilled skateboarder were dashed when the first Tony Hawk game was released. From the comfort and safety of my couch I was able to pull off moves I knew I’d never master in real life and thankfully when the fad wore off I wasn’t left with a mountain of skateboard gear to put into storage.
The makers of this ‘push-free’ skateboard claim you don’t need expert riding skills to pull off jumps or manuals but to me it looks like just riding the thing would take the skills of a seasoned pro. Instead of having to push off with one leg to make it go the Push-Free skateboard works like a seesaw where the motion of going up and down on either end causes a spring-loaded gearbox to rotate the wheels. Turning appears to be similar to a standard deck and stopping uses a rear brake bad to grind on the pavement like inline skates do.
