Pratone Lounge Chair (Images courtesy Connox)
By Andrew Liszewski

Remember that movie Honey I Shrunk The Kids? Well this Pratone lounge chair looks like a section of gigantic prop grass taken from the film’s backyard set. Designed by the Gruppo Strum group (G. Ceretti, P. Derossi, R. Rosso) the lounge chair is actually made from polyurethane foam and is supposed to recreate the effect of lounging about in a large grassy meadow. Assuming of course you were first drastically reduced in scale via Dr. Szalinski’s shrink ray. Unfortunately though, the chair is another one of those ‘designer’ items that you think would look really cool in your living room until you notice the $13,400+ price tag. After that it just becomes a “check this out!” link you email to all of your friends.

  1. And the award for the most expensive & useless gadget goes to…

Seriously, maybe if I was a millionaire I'd buy this because I can see my kids having a blast with these things but for the average person it's just expensive and silly.
