With most major radio stations simulcasting their broadcasts online, I really don’t see the need for a portable radio recording device. But maybe if you’ve secluded yourself in a remote cabin and have shunned all technology except radio, this could be useful for catching the talk show you missed while checking the traps, or while involved in that confrontation with the FBI.
The Radio YourWay Mini is considered the “little sibling” of Pogo!’s Radio YourWay LX model, but still includes all the scheduling abilities of the larger version. The 1GB of memory isn’t particularly large, but if you’re only recording talk radio, or your dictated manifesto, it will actually go a long way. And like Tivo or other PVRs on the market, the Radio YourWay even has a 1 minute buffer, which is constantly recording the last minute of broadcast should you need to rewind or what-not.
At $99.99 I don’t see why they couldn’t have thrown some MP3 capabilities in there, but maybe that might not appeal to whatever demographic they’re trying to target.

This is the most stupid review of a product I’ve ever read on my life. The reviewer starts off with this little gem…”I really don’t see the need for a portable radio recording device.” What an idiot. Then he attempts to insult people who listen to and record radio by saying…”if you’ve secluded yourself in a remote cabin and have shunned all technology except radio, this could be useful for catching the talk show you missed while checking the traps, or while involved in that confrontation with the FBI.” The reviewer is a complete moron who thinks everyone has Internet access 24 hours a days and who also thinks all stations stream. How about shows that aren’t streamed?…How about shows that are on at an inconvenient time…like 2 in the morning?…How about listening to a radio program on a RADIO away from a computer? How about people who archive shows and collect shows? Not everyone is a loser who is glued to a computer constantly. Hey, genius…how about when your Internet connection goes down or your hard drive crashes? What then?
Who gave this person a job as a reviewer? The Radio YourWay is a great product for recording and listening to radio programs for later listening. Why is that so hard for this goofball to understand? The reviewer must be some dope head high schooler.
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately this isn’t technically a review since I have never, and probably will never try the device. I’m sure it works as advertised, but radio just isn’t my thing. Given the option of listening to what I want (CDs, MP3s) or what someone wants me to hear (including commercials) I’ll choose the former. But if you enjoy the radio, then more power to you.
