Did you know that famed designer Philippe Starck, who’s influenced everything from juicers to computer mice has even tried his hand at stuffed animals? No? Well there’s probably a good reason you haven’t, because this is what came of it.
The TeddyBearBand was created with the idea that kids frequently move from one toy to another, and what they can’t live without one week, ends up in the bottom of the toy chest the next. So instead of just being a stuffed bear, the TeddyBearBand also serves as a stuffed dog, rabbit and possibly a sheep, all at the same time. When the child gets tired of one animal, they just flip it around and move onto the next.
Of course what makes for an interesting design study to adults, is probably a source of nightmares for a small child, but I think it’s safe to say we’ve found the perfect villain for Spiderman 4.

Cripes! Separately they’re rather cute, actually. But as a whole, something’s… not right with this. Something’s so very …not right.

Can’t decide which ones creep me out more, the sliced-open baby skull planters, the upside-down head bowls, or the tile faces. What’s that horror movie again, with the faces pushing through a rubber sheet? Exactly, like that.
i love/loathe philippe starck as much as the next industrial designer, but honestly, what the hell is this?!? i’ll tell you what it is, it’s freakin’ creeeeepy. want to give that special child nightmares? give them this. and don’t forget to tell them the bedtime story of how the teddy bear killed the other animals, and keeps their heads as trophies.
On the other hand, never underestimate the imagination and abstraction capability of a child’s mind. Probably most kids would happily accept it like that. But imagine them growing up to become bioengineers…
