Frying something up is simple once you’ve done it a few dozen times and burnt or undercooked enough things to know how hot to make the pan. That’s called experience. But if you lack that and still hope to make a nice dinner for your date tonight and not look too stupid in the process, you’d do well to get yourself the Pantelligent Frying Pan. It has a temperature sensor embedded inside, which communicates with your smartphone. This way you just select a recipe and it tells you when the pan is hot enough, when it’s too hot, when to add which ingredients, etc. It takes your hands and walks you through the entire process of cooking, while removing the fear that you’ll burn something or leave the center raw. You’ll still have to exercise some caution because the right temperature on the pan doesn’t mean you can leave stuff on it indefinitely, but having that extra piece of data can still go a long way to preventing some culinary disasters. It’s a $200 pledge, which seems atrocious considering you could get a regular pan for maybe $20… but that’s the price of technological advancement, we suppose.
