It really warms my heart to see that even gun makers are now going out of their way to design products that are accessible for the elderly and physically disabled. If you’ve ever taken grandma to the shooting range (the perfect Christmas gift by the way) you’ve probably noticed she has a hard time squeezing the trigger, not to mention her embarrassing muzzle drift. But since the Palm Pistol is fired using the thumb, those problems are a thing of the past. Now unfortunately because of its design the Palm Pistol is a one-shot deal, but that’s all you’ll need since as the website puts it; “Point and shoot couldn’t be easier.” (Sigh.)

The Palm Pistol will have a limited initial product run and is expected to sell for about $300. And you can reserve one now on their website (just in time for the holidays) for just $25.

  1. Actually, palm-fired pistols have been around for more than a hundred years, they were quite popular among the less reputable poker players in the late 19th century…

  2. The problem is that many of the guns out there are a bit unwieldy for an older person to handle. However, the inventors of the Palm Pistol are planning to change all that with a weapon that is ideal for both the elderly and the physically disabled. The firearm appears to be a redesign of the classic “Chicago Palm Pistol” first patented in the US in 1883—the difference being that the modern Palm Pistol is a single shot device with a thumb trigger.
