Now that the Optimus keyboard has gone more or less into production, we’re back to the old standard when it comes to vaporware: Duke Nukem Forever. To keep the weak, weak flame of hope alive, 3D Realms today released a teaser trailer which, they point out, was released an hour earlier than they’d originally promised. Way to go, guys. Anyway, here it is:

Underwhelmed? You’re not alone. The graphics are decent but not anything special, and the tiny amount of gameplay shown looks fairly run of the mill. The only thing, in my opinion, that can save Duke Nukem Forever when it’s eventually released is going to be the sheer Duke-Nukemness of it (if you remember much about Duke Nukem 3D, you know what I mean). And whether they can convincingly pull that off after so many years remains to be seen. Oh, and despite (or because of?) the trailer, and despite already being awarded a lifetime achievement award, DNF is still at the top of the list for this year’s Vaporware Awards over at Wired.
