Back on April 1st (that would be, April Fool’s Day) we posted about a Personal Soundtrack Shirt from Thinkgeek.com. The shirt had a speaker embedded in the front, and would play music and sound effects as you went about your daily business, making your boring life that much more exciting.

It was, of course, a joke.

Or maybe not.

Thinkgeek got such a crazy response to the joke that they’ve decided to make an actual product out of it, and it’ll be on sale in limited quantities starting on Friday. Just like the April Fool’s Day prank, the shirt has a big speaker embedded in the front. A wired remote control allows you to choose the appropriate soundtrack or sound effect to play. If you don’t like the included sounds, you can add your own on an SD card, or even wire an MP3 player directly into the speaker. The electronics are removable so you can wash the shirt if you’re into that sort of thing.

The Personal Soundtrack Shirt is only $40 and is guaranteed to make you awesome forever. Or as long as you’re wearing it, anyway. Video after the jump.

  1. Don't buy these. they aren't wearable in any context, I have the drums shirt and it's not 'embedded' on the shirt but stuck on my some weird micro-velcro and is stuff and you cant move any part of your body, and this seems even worse.
it's not even a 'novelty' at the price

  2. If anyone is interested… You can re-wire this speaker to use with ANY MP3 player. Lighter and less bulky, an iPod for example would fit nicely in the shirt side pocket.

How To Rewire your Soundtrack Shirt:

If you grab a standard 3.5mm headphone plug (say from a broken set of earphones) and cut the plug end off, you'll notice 3 or 4 wires.

Wires: Green – Left, Red – Right, Copper – Ground.

You can splice either green or red to the white power wire from the speaker on the shirt. And splice the copper wire to the black ground wire of the shirt.

Then plug in your headphone jack into any MP3 player!

Then control your songs and volume through your less bulky MP3 player and slip that into the little shirt pocket for convenience.
