Awesome roommates are hard to come by. Lauren Fahey recently moved to San Francisco and came upon that realization after apartment hunting for a while. With a lot of other “competitors” on the side, Lauren decided that the only way she was ever going to find a decent place to live in was to sell herself–as being one of the best roommates you could ever have.
Lauren then created a movie poster-like ad which featured testimonials about Lauren as a roommate from previous roommates. The ad’s backdrop featured Lauren with a friend (who could be you, if you’re looking for a roommate!) and an ironic naked man at the back, for no particular reason. She explains: “Apartment and roommate hunting was getting so tedious. It’s ridiculously competitive and I had to find a way to set myself apart.”
Lauren’s methods worked, since she now has herself a roommate. If you’re looking for one yourself, then take a cue from Lauren and see if it works for you, too.
