nokia n93By David Ponce

Companies keep promising 3D games on their handsets, yet I’ve yet to play any game that didn’t look like it came from an old 386 on steroids (if you don’t know what a 386 is, perhaps you’re in the wrong demographic). Hell, people, it’s 2006… I should be able to play FEAR on my handset, while compressing MP3s in the background!

Well, we’re not there yet, but Nokia is making some inroads, at least if the video after the jump is to be believed. If you come inside, you’ll be treated to a very nice, Tekken-like 3D game that allegedly is not a trailer, but real-time footage from an N93. Looks sweet.

  1. The Nokia N93 – 3D Gaming On A Cell Phone…

It’s hard to believe that 3D gaming on a cellphone could look as good as in this video. My phone only plays a crappy ripoff of Tetris! This is supposedly a real-time video taken from the new Nokia N93 gaming phone that boasts 3D graphics.Click here …

  2. well the ngage had 3d games a few years ago when it came out and you could indeed run an mp3 player in the backgroung if you wanted to.
    best games phone ever.

  3. Read this somewhere, looks like N93 is first mabile phone with hardware 3D:-

This early technology plug-in for the S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, for C++, enables the development of OpenGL ES 1.1 applications for the Nokia N93. The Nokia N93 is the first Nokia multimedia computer with hardware accelerated 3D graphics and OpenGL ES 1.1 support.
