Do you live in an apartment and constantly dream of owning a fireplace? Well, now you can, thanks to Australian company Ecosmart.

They design a range of modular fireplaces that use methylated spirits and ethanol, combined with a specially engineered burner making it so that you don’t need any flue/vent/chimney or any form of permanent fixture or fitting, gas/electrical connection to use.

Ethanol is pure alcohol, produced by the fermentation of sugars originating from agricultural and forestry products, mainly sugarcane, potatoes, bananas, beetroot and recently from cereals such as wheat.

The combustion of Ethanol 100% (also called Ethyl Alcohol C2H5OH) results in a clean emission: Heat, Steam and Carbon Dioxide. Methylated Spirits is a denatured (so that it is not consumed) version of Ethanol that burns just as clean.

So you just buy one of these, put it where you like, and burn away.

Just like that.

Well… like that, and anything between $2200 and $7000.
