For a while now I have chosen to delve back into the world of PC gaming. We recently received a new product at the office and it sparked me back into the gaming world on the platform with which I once lived. The package that arrived was indeed the Mionix Naos 5000 gaming mouse. The box came looking professional and little did I know that it would change my gaming experience in magnitude for the better.
Out of the box the Mionix Naos 5000 already looks amazing. Its sleek, black design makes it perfectly aesthetic to my style. It’s ergonomically designed, with grooves in the left and right for your fingers and thumb, so it feels comfortable while in use. The scroll wheel has grooves crafted on it that make for easy scrolling, zooming, and moving around the screen. The entire mouse is covered in a comfortable rubber coating that ensures maximum grip.
One cool feature about this mouse is that is has LED-lights built into the casing that customize the mouse and make it that more amazing to look at. On the top of the mouse below the scroll bar are two buttons that increase or decrease the sensitivity of the mouse movement. This comes in handy for different play styles, and makes the mouse more efficient and customizable to fit the need for any type of game played.
Perhaps one of the coolest features to this mouse is the advanced weight tuning system. In the package is a set of weights, packed in a metal case, that you can put into the mouse to change the weight of the unit.
These weights can be put into the bottom of the mouse, on the left and right sides, which distributes weight evenly throughout the mouse in order to provide for a better balance. I played with the weight system for a bit, checking it out, and it changed the way I gamed drastically. I ended up with all the weights in the mouse because I found that it slid across the desk better.
Speaking of the tracking system, this mouse has a unique laser sensor that helps it glide better onscreen. The tool is actually called the Surface Quality Analyzer Tool, or S.Q.U.A.T. for short. This tool makes it easier for the mouse to detect what kind of surface it is on, thus making it easier to use. I found that I never had to pick the mouse up and do the “bang it till it works” thing that you usually have to.
Another quality of the mouse that I found helpful was the braided USB connection. This makes for a more durable and secure connection to the PC. With the mouse’s plug and play ability, it was very easy to connect it to the PC and get going immediately.
I journeyed to the Mionix website, and found downloadable software that helped to tweak the mouse’s performance even further. I was able to turn off the LED lights, and even change the colors, change the tracking speed, and tweak other performance aspects as well.
All in all this mouse was amazing. I would even venture to say that the Mionix Naos 5000, named after a star, is practically flawless. I didn’t really have any issues at all with this mouse. From playing RPG’s, to fast-paced FPS’s, this mouse gets the job done comfortably all while being pretty stylish.
I definitely recommend the Mionix Naos 5000 to any serious PC gamer. With its new-age weight tuning system, customizable effects, and dynamic ergonomic design, this mouse takes it to the next level. Be sure to go get one for yourself. The mouse will set you back around $90.
