I survived for many years with only a laptop for my computing needs and while it was incredibly convenient I’ll admit that using it without a desk often led to some un-ergonomic positions to say the least.
For anyone who’s concerned about destroying their spine while working on a laptop there’s the Alto keyboard dock from Logitech. Besides providing a full size keyboard to pound away on the Alto also has a notebook display riser which moves the laptop’s screen to a better height for viewing and overall posture. And like a lot of Logitech keyboards the Alto includes many special one-touch hot keys for adjusting volume or quick-launching email and other apps. The dock also folds flat onto itself protecting the keys if and when you need to carry it (or pack it) while travelling.

looks good. the only problem with those hot keyes are that they link through internet explorer. grrr.
Does anyone actually use those special function keys? I?ve seen them on keyboards for years now but I can?t think of a time when pushing one of those buttons was easer than double clicking an icon. On a side note I?d love to see a keyboard that reverses the key blocks. I?d like to have the arrow keys on the left side of the alpa keys then the number pad after that. [789+] [] [qwertyuiop] While I?m not left handed it?d be nice to have this type of layout.
Kouroth, you can buy a seperate number block (USB connected) and place it on the left side of the keyboard. It works like a charm for me. I work in finance and its great to type in some numbers in excel while keeping the right hand free to navigate the mouse. Im right handed too btw.
