Livescribe Smartpen Gets Realer

After posting my review of the FLY Fusion Pentop Computer I got quite a few tips about the Livescribe Smartpen as a more ‘adult-oriented’ alternative. (And by ‘adult’ I mean ‘grown-up.’) Well the other day the company sent me a message about their new blog that also happened to include the first photos of the Smartpen hardware.

Not surprisingly it’s still larger than your regular ballpoint pen, but given what it promises to be capable of, and the fact that it has a built-in OLED display, the size is understandable.

And for those of you who just can’t wait, the Livescribe Smartpen is actually available for pre-order on the Livescribe website. While the final price hasn’t been nailed down as of yet (it will apparently retail for under $200) if you pre-order before December 31, you’ll enjoy free shipping and handling when it’s finally available.

  1. the advertisements make it sound pretty awesome. but i’d have to try it before i decided though.

there’s an official livescribe group on facebook that is giving free pens.

  2. it currently does not have mac capabilities. but you can get around this with boot camp. having a mac version is very high on the companies priority list and hopefully you will be able to by the end of the year.

  3. The company is working very hard to get out a Mac version as soon as possible–look out for it later this year.

In the mean time, if you want a LS Pulse Smartpen, you can pick one up at your local Target or at http://www.livescribe.com; using discount code SCRIBEA530 will get you 5% off a 1GB or 2GB pen!
