There aren’t many things that tickle a geek quite as much as Star Wars and LEGOs. So you can imagine the excitement at the news that the LEGO Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 is set to be released in May. Measuring over 12 inches in height, the 2,100 piece robot features a 360 degree rotating head, “a retractable third leg, front panels that open to reveal a universal computer interface arm and a circular saw, and 2 fold-out front spacecraft linkage control arms.” It’s big, it’s heavy and yes, it’s also expensive at $250. It’ll be available directly through the LEGO website.

You should definitely hit the jump to see a video detailing the development process. And watch until the end, it gets a little funny.
