If you’ve had the iPad 2 from day one and have patiently been waiting on iOS 4.3.3 (or 5.0 on the iPhone 4S) for an untethered jailbreak to be released for your A5 equipped device, before upgrading to iOS 5.0.1, there is hope on the horizon. But there’s also a call of action that you need to take now. Well known hacker pod2g has been working on the untethered jailbreak and recently announced that its release was “only a few [days] to wait now.” But Apple will soon release iOS 5.1, for which there will be no jailbreak, and will stop signing 5.0.1. This means if you don’t upgrade to 5.0.1 now, you may lose your window of opportunity to jailbreak your device for quite some time. So upgrade now, while you still can. You might have to go a few days without the benefits of a jailbreak, but at least you’ll be in the clear once pod2g feels the hack is ready for prime time.
