We’ve all returned from the grocery store only to remember everything we forgot to get but I have to wonder if a device like the Ikan is maybe making things too easy? It’s a barcode scanner you setup in your kitchen, preferably close to the garbage since you’re supposed to scan each package you throw out when they’re empty. The item is then recognized via the barcode and automatically added to an ever growing shopping list.
When grocery day rolls around, or when you run out of food you can use the Ikan scanner to confirm items you want to buy from the shopping list and then place an order online. If you still feel like putting in a little effort in life you can pick up your groceries in person at the store or otherwise just sit back and wait for the delivery man to drop them off while your muscles atrophy.
It looks like Ikan Technologies is currently accepting applications for a beta test of the product so if you live in the United States and are interested in the concept you can sign up on their website under the ‘apply for beta’ section.
