If you’re keeping a tally, you can now add Voltmeter and Multimeter to the list of things that Apple’s iOS devices can do thanks to Redfish Instruments’ new iDVM digital multimeter. As you can see it’s completely lacking the traditional B&W LCD of your standard multimeter because it instead connects to an iOS device via an ad-hoc wireless network, using its large color screen to display measurements and readings. There’s also the added bonus of being able to keep a log of readings over time, and geo-tag where the measurements were taken making it handy for repairpersons who make service calls.
The accompanying iDVM app is available for free on the iTunes App Store right now if you’d like to take it for a spin, while the hardware is expected to shop on June 1 for $220.
Just because you have an iPhone doesn’t mean you need an APP for everything. jeeze…
btw…you can get a perfectly good Fluke DVM for the same price or less.

I’ve got a fluke 179 that is DEAD accurate. Plus, couldn’t you just see that converter box screw up and a couple hundred volts, or a couple amps get into the data port on the iphone…POOF!
Mr. Tesla…. Can you explain how “a couple hundred volts” that enter the “converter box” could be transferred into the “data port” of the iPhone when using this product?
I’m sure that you, TESLA HIMSELF, have discovered the best way to transmit such power wirelessly, and you just need to share with us…

p.s. most Fluke meters are made in China. This one is made in the USA.
p.p.s. I use a fluke 187 and love it.
p.p.p.s. I’d get this just for the logging over time / points. When doing a sanity check on a new design, it’s nice to have it all logged instead of breaking out the pen and paper.
