This past weekend brought me my first real glimpse of snow for the season, which I can’t say I was excited about. I looked forward to it as a kid because that meant fun stuff like sledding and missing school. While sledding was a fun activity, you generally spent more time climbing hills than speeding down them. So this year, why not scoot around on the snow, without the need of a slope?

This gas-powered snowboard looks like it would be a lot of fun. It has a 6.5 horsepower engine which will carry riders of 250lbs or less at speeds of up to 18 MPH. It steers by leaning side to side, and can run for up to two hours on less than a gallon of gas. Unfortunately the $2,000 price tag might encourage you to stick to the old-fashioned sled.

  1. Pretty cool, but it would even be cooler if it involves the use of hydrogen as the substitute for gas, giving it that eco-friendly attribute.

And for its price, $2,000 is quite hefty. I'd rather go skiing or snowboarding than be bound to its limitations.
