To everyone reading this in sunny california, or anywhere else that’s warm, count your blessings. This is what we got up here in not-so-sunny canada. But ill get a taste of the sun soon, as im planning to spend two days in Bakersfield, CA, driving the new Cobalt SS turbo, courtesy of GM. Anyone from around there? If so, if i manage to take two seconds for myself, is there anything i should see, eat, try? Eat? I like eating.
Test-drive a GM car? I would rather stay in the snow than endure that…
There’s even a hint of blue in this beautiful winter day sky. I scoff at your mollycoddled ectothermic wimpiness. 🙂
I wouldn’t worry about taking any time for yourself at all. Bakersfield is the butthole of the California. Spend as much time working and as little time being aware of your location as possible.
The cobalt SS doesn’t have a turbo. I think it has a supercharger though
Yea, Bakersfield really is the butthole of california.. Why are you going to bakersfield? Go to LA or Orange County.. OC is wayyyyyy better!
I totally agree with “kindredFolk”… you are visiting our butthole… enjoy! if you want to drive about 4 hours North you are more than welcome to race the GadgetKing’s Superformance Cobra – http://www.superformance.com/MKIII.aspx – We all know what the outcome will be 🙂 But it will make for good video… and will give you an excuse to exit the butthole. Come north… between San Jose and San Francisco!

@ Hiswnger2m I just want to mention that the new Cobalt has a Turbo. The previous model was supercharged, but the new model has pretty much the same engine as the Saturn Sky Red Line… If I’m not mistaken. I’ll give you more details when I have them.
If you have to go to Bakersfield, eat Basque. There are several really good family style Basque restaurants that will fill you up.
Great food, wine and lots of Basques to meet and talk with.
@ Ryan. Actually, I should scratch this whole question. Turns out I’ll be at Buttonwillow, because of the racetrack. I was under the impression Bakersfield is closer, but it’s actually 28 miles away. I’m not complaining though. Racetrack time > sightseeing. Anytime. 🙂
Try the In-And-Out Burger. No, really.
All I am saying is, if you can find them, go for carne asada fries!
