If you find yourself using the Voice Memos app on the iPhone a lot, or capture a lot of videos, this tiny pseudo-shotgun mic for the iPhone 3G and 3GS claims to provide “10 times better audio reception!” for just $14. It plugs into the iPhone’s headphone jack and can be pointed in any direction for capturing audio directly from the source, and according to Brando it gains 25+ db over the iPhone’s built-in mic.

  1. I actually saw a reporter using one of these on TV. She was running beheind some congressman and shoving it in his face while spoke to the press. Who needs that old (but attractive) tape recorder. She just better hope she doesn't get a phone call in the middle of an interview.

  2. Not a bad addition to the iPhone, definitely would help me record classes better. But are their enough people out there making videos or audio recordings often enough to make this necessary?

  3. hmmm… does this work on the Itouch? You could then jerry rig it to a free phone… Of course you would need to constantly be around a wifi network and it might not be dependable… but ya know- if you are desperate. 🙂
