Designer Joonhuyn Kim had the bright idea (HA!) of reinventing the traditional incandescent lightbulb in a motif that’s 30% more flat. Flat bulbs (like other flat things) are much easier and cheaper to store and transport. And the especially nice thing about flat light bulbs is that they don’t hurl themselves off of high places to their doom. I’m sure they’d be significantly more expensive than normal “chubby” incandescents if they ever went into production, but with the increasing prevalence of efficient and long lasting CFLs and LEDs, that may not get a chance to happen.
