If you’re an idiot-savant (or autistic-savant these days) with a flair for cooking you’ll love this measuring cup from Fred & Friends. The Equal Measure not only includes measurements in ounces, millimeters and cups, but it also provides an interesting comparison of random amounts to various objects. For example, did you know that just under 1 1/4 cups is equal to about 10 billion grains of powdered icing sugar? Or that 15 ounces holds about 10,000 grains of rice? Not only did I not know these facts, but I never realized how much I didn’t care!

The glass itself has a capacity of about 6.8 billion grains of flour, or exactly 2 1/2 cups and is made from heat-resistant, dishwasher-safe borosilicate glass. They’re available from Fred & Friends but once again, I can’t find pricing information anywhere on their website.

  1. –> “as many grains of flour as people on the planet (6.8 billion)”

Don’t they realize how soon this figure will be outdated? How on Earth am I supposed to get my cookie recipe juuust right when there are too many people.

Unless… I could keep enjoying perfect cookies if I only killed some 200000 people every day. Mmmmh.

  2. Fred & Friends is a wholesaler. Click on the Buy tab to see lists of on-line and brick-and-mortar retailers. (Of course then wait for Amazon and others to add the new products to their inventories.) Hope this helps.

  3. I actually go through all the online stores they recommend for finding their stuff, but like you said, it seems most of them are slow on the uptake for new products.
