The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis is an impressive light show that will put even the grandest of fireworks extravaganzas to shame. The downside is you usually have to travel pretty far north to get a truly good view of the phenomenon. But Japanese company Banpresto has found a way to package the spectacle into a device that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.

The Aurora Palette projects an “aurora borealis-like” lighting effect onto your walls or ceiling that will supposedly create a relaxing mood in the room. It’s powered by 4 AA batteries which should keep it running for a good 20 hours and the projector head can even be angled and swiveled for aiming where the light show hits.

The Aurora Palette is available from AudioCubes.com for $55.
