So here’s the deal: power is costly. Not sure about where you live, but my little studio apartment can end [up costing me about $150 per month in electricity, or about one third of my rent. The thing with any of these renewable energy gizmos is that if you leave it a year the products will be better and cost less. I’m a big fan of the concept, in theory, but there was a rash of criminal mis-selling of roof-mounted solar panels over the past few years, with pensioners especially being sold multi-thousand pound packages that wouldn’t ever re-pay the cost of installation in their lifetime.
At this stage proper insulation and replacing inefficient boilers and such is a more economical way to save money and use less power, rather than trying to get that power for “free” – it’s not free, obviously and in your example it would take four years to earn back the cost, but that’s not allowing for maintenance and whether you’d even be able to generate ALL your energy requirements this way and all the time as the wind isn’t constant.
When you can buy this technology built into a new home as standard THAT’s when to get it.
Old scam, new name. A few years ago a friend, now a former friend, tried to get me to buy into a similar technology. I got my calculator out & did some number crunching. His vertical axis wind turbine claimed to extract more BTUs worth of power out of wind that actually existed in the wind. I asked to see a workin unit. Still haven’t seen one after almost 8 years.
This unit looks suspiciously similar, but doesn’t make quite the same outrageous claims. The power numbers it is claiming indicate this unit is extremely efficient & given the price…. I kinda doubt it.
Personally, I’d read all this with a heavy dose of skepticism. It comes close to having almost zero drag at first glance w/o the number crunching. Not gonna waste my time refuting it.
