Wearable Sleeping Bags Come In Star Wars Fashions

Selk’Bags, the sleeping bags that you wear like a bodysuit, have been around for a long time. We wrote about them in 2006 and even reviewed one in 2011. Fast forward to today, and we find the company trying to expand its appeal by releasing some Star Wars themed suits, and we’re loving it. You can now get a Selk’bag in Chewbacca, Buzz Lightyear, Radiation Suit and Darth Vader flavours. Notice the two non-Star Wars items there? Neither did we, because who the heck cares, amirite?

Everything else is the same as a regular Selk’bag and has the following features:

– Removable booties allow you to wear your own shoes, or keep them on for warm sleeping; booties are reinforced with durable nylon
– Elastic no-hassle hand openings allow you to bring your hands in and out of the bag quickly and effortlessly

SNES Classic Review: The Micro Console At Its Best

Nintendo’s latest micro console is here and despite long lines and store shortages, I managed to pick one up and I’m excited to talk about it.

The SNES Classic builds off the success of last year’s NES Classic, offering 21 of the best games the Super Nintendo has to offer. So, is the SNES Classic the best way to play old school Super Nintendo games? I’ve been playing with it non-stop, all weekend (for you guys, of course) and here are my thoughts.

Hardware: It’s a Glorious Little Box

The first thing that strikes you is that the SNES Classic comes in a very small size. While looking identical to the its big brother, it fits comfortably on my desk between my monitor and one of my speakers. It really stays out of the way, and is closer in size to my computer mouse than my Xbox. The console sports a single HDMI output and DC in for power. The console also comes with two controllers this time, that allow you play two-player modes right out of the box.

The controllers themselves are fantastic, they’re lightweight and sturdy with buttons that feel very tactile and a d-pad which allows for tight controls in platformers like Super Mario World. The plug connectors are redesigned from the Wii’s controller input that Nintendo has used for a while. This means you can use these SNES controllers with a Wii, or even use them on your NES Classic.

The console itself has a small flap to hide the plug connectors when not in use, that really makes the SNES Classic look great when sitting on a shelf. Aside from the controllers, there are two switches on the SNES, one for power on/off, and the other is a reset switch that you’ll be using a lot to save your games.

SN30 is a Wireless Controller for The SNES Classic

The SNES Classic’s controller is fantastic, and the fact that the console comes with two is even better. But if you’re hoping for a little more space to do your gaming, 8Bitdo is releasing a wireless version of SNES controller that works with the micro-console, called the SN30.

As you might expect the controller connects via a small Bluetooth dongle, and extends your range beyond the 4.5-foot cord of the included controllers. The wireless controller also has another great feature, pressing both Select/Start will take you back the home screen, a feature not found on Nintendo’s included controllers. 8Bitdo is also noted for having made a widely loved wireless version of the controller for the NES Classic last year, the NES30.

If you interested in the SNES Classic, there’s not much to hate here. The controllers are built by people with a very good reputation for accuracy, they have a built in rechargeable battery, and best of all, they’re only $25.

The only complaint is that right now they’re only taking pre-orders and the controllers won’t ship until December 10. But if you’re someone who’s likely to throw away many hours on the SNES classic, the SN30 is probably the best accessory to pair it with.

I’m a huge fan of napping. It’s important to understand that napping is not the same as sleeping, in that actually getting into bed defeats the purpose of a nap, which is to just curl up on a piece of furniture and drop off (especially when you have other important things that you really should be doing). According to Metronaps (and others), a 20 minute powernap substantially increases productivity. Buying your own will cost about $8,000.

It’s not #1 because: it’s public, it’s designed for power naps (only 20 minutes), and it’s basically just a glorified recliner that costs $14 per nap.

Why I Love Rechargeable Batteries

[Every now and then our man Evan gets chatty and cranks out a feature length piece. They make for a good read, and this is one of them. We hear they’ll show up now and then. -Ed.]

BatteriesBatteries suck. We know they suck. They’re a necessary evil at this stage of our technological development. They’re bulky, they’re toxic, they never hold as much as you want them to, and (like all of us) as soon as they’re born, they start the weary and inevitable decline into uselessness. If you’ve ever owned an iPod (or pretty much any other device with a built-in battery) you know what I’m talking about. My iPod is down to about 2 reliable hours, my laptop gets 30 seconds out of a full charge if I’m lucky. As someone who travels a lot, I find it difficult to depend on the lifetime of internal batteries, especially when it comes to power hungry devices. That’s why I love the flexibility and interchangeability of “conventional” batteries, especially rechargeables. I can take my four rechargeable AAs and stick them in my TuneJuice to give me music from LAX all the way across the pacific (a 13 hour endeavour), and then swap the same batteries into my digital camera and take about a bazillion shots (after a quick recharge, of course). I know, integrated rechargeable batteries are sooooo much sexier, but at SOME point you have to put a premium on usability. It’s based on this philosophy of convenience and usefulness. After the jump, I am going to explain why I am such a big fan of interchangeable rechargeable batteries, and why you (and all your gadgets) should be too.

The Halo Rover has a lot of cool features, which is why it’s a bit pricey compared to other hoverboards. However, it’s worth it. We were impressed by the durable build and the powerful 800W motor. It has 8.5″ tires for all-terrain, LED headlights, the ability to climb grades up to 20 degrees, water resistance, a mobile app and more. It’s on the heavy side though.
