Wearable Sleeping Bags Come In Star Wars Fashions

star-wars-wearable-sleeping-bags

Selk’Bags, the sleeping bags that you wear like a bodysuit, have been around for a long time. We wrote about them in 2006 and even reviewed one in 2011. Fast forward to today, and we find the company trying to expand its appeal by releasing some Star Wars themed suits, and we’re loving it. You can now get a Selk’bag in Chewbacca, Buzz Lightyear, Radiation Suit and Darth Vader flavours. Notice the two non-Star Wars items there? Neither did we, because who the heck cares, amirite?

Everything else is the same as a regular Selk’bag and has the following features:

– Removable booties allow you to wear your own shoes, or keep them on for warm sleeping; booties are reinforced with durable nylon
– Elastic no-hassle hand openings allow you to bring your hands in and out of the bag quickly and effortlessly
– Single Ezip for a quick entry and dual zipper pulls for easy pocket access
– A soft polyester shell with DWR (durable water resistant) finish is both comfortable and water-resistant
– An insulated hood for added warmth
– Draft tubes prevent heat loss around the zippers
– Wide zipper tape prevents snags when opening or closing
– A convenient carry sack for compact portability

They’ll set you back $109 and also come in children’s sizes for $89.

SNES Classic Review: The Micro Console At Its Best

Nintendo’s latest micro console is here and despite long lines and store shortages, I managed to pick one up and I’m excited to talk about it.

The SNES Classic builds off the success of last year’s NES Classic, offering 21 of the best games the Super Nintendo has to offer. So, is the SNES Classic the best way to play old school Super Nintendo games? I’ve been playing with it non-stop, all weekend (for you guys, of course) and here are my thoughts.

Hardware: It’s a Glorious Little Box

The first thing that strikes you is that the SNES Classic comes in a very small size. While looking identical to the its big brother, it fits comfortably on my desk between my monitor and one of my speakers. It really stays out of the way, and is closer in size to my computer mouse than my Xbox. The console sports a single HDMI output and DC in for power. The console also comes with two controllers this time, that allow you play two-player modes right out of the box.

The controllers themselves are fantastic, they’re lightweight and sturdy with buttons that feel very tactile and a d-pad which allows for tight controls in platformers like Super Mario World. The plug connectors are redesigned from the Wii’s controller input that Nintendo has used for a while. This means you can use these SNES controllers with a Wii, or even use them on your NES Classic.

The console itself has a small flap to hide the plug connectors when not in use, that really makes the SNES Classic look great when sitting on a shelf. Aside from the controllers, there are two switches on the SNES, one for power on/off, and the other is a reset switch that you’ll be using a lot to save your games.

SN30 is a Wireless Controller for The SNES Classic

The SNES Classic’s controller is fantastic, and the fact that the console comes with two is even better. But if you’re hoping for a little more space to do your gaming, 8Bitdo is releasing a wireless version of SNES controller that works with the micro-console, called the SN30.

As you might expect the controller connects via a small Bluetooth dongle, and extends your range beyond the 4.5-foot cord of the included controllers. The wireless controller also has another great feature, pressing both Select/Start will take you back the home screen, a feature not found on Nintendo’s included controllers. 8Bitdo is also noted for having made a widely loved wireless version of the controller for the NES Classic last year, the NES30.

If you interested in the SNES Classic, there’s not much to hate here. The controllers are built by people with a very good reputation for accuracy, they have a built in rechargeable battery, and best of all, they’re only $25.

The only complaint is that right now they’re only taking pre-orders and the controllers won’t ship until December 10. But if you’re someone who’s likely to throw away many hours on the SNES classic, the SN30 is probably the best accessory to pair it with.

Top 5 Nap Tech

By Evan Ackerman

I’m a huge fan of napping. It’s important to understand that napping is not the same as sleeping, in that actually getting into bed defeats the purpose of a nap, which is to just curl up on a piece of furniture and drop off (especially when you have other important things that you really should be doing). So without further ado, here’s our ode to napping: The Top 5 list of Nap Tech:

#5: MetroNap Nap-Pod

MetronapMetronaps is offering these little pods for rental in a few cities around the world, including New York. The pod reclines, a privacy shield descends, and then you powernap for 20 minutes, whereupon the pod will wake you up with a combination of an acoustic alarm and a gentle vibration. According to Metronaps (and others), a 20 minute powernap substantially increases productivity. Buying your own will cost about $8,000.

It’s not #1 because: it’s public, it’s designed for power naps (only 20 minutes), and it’s basically just a glorified recliner that costs $14 per nap.

Check out the top four after the jump.

Why I Love Rechargeable Batteries

By Evan Ackerman

[Every now and then our man Evan gets chatty and cranks out a feature length piece. They make for a good read, and this is one of them. We hear they’ll show up now and then. -Ed.]

BatteriesBatteries suck. We know they suck. They’re a necessary evil at this stage of our technological development. They’re bulky, they’re toxic, they never hold as much as you want them to, and (like all of us) as soon as they’re born, they start the weary and inevitable decline into uselessness. If you’ve ever owned an iPod (or pretty much any other device with a built-in battery) you know what I’m talking about. My iPod is down to about 2 reliable hours, my laptop gets 30 seconds out of a full charge if I’m lucky. As someone who travels a lot, I find it difficult to depend on the lifetime of internal batteries, especially when it comes to power hungry devices. That’s why I love the flexibility and interchangeability of “conventional” batteries, especially rechargeables. I can take my four rechargeable AAs and stick them in my TuneJuice to give me music from LAX all the way across the pacific (a 13 hour endeavour), and then swap the same batteries into my digital camera and take about a bazillion shots (after a quick recharge, of course). I know, integrated rechargeable batteries are sooooo much sexier, but at SOME point you have to put a premium on usability. It’s based on this philosophy of convenience and usefulness. After the jump, I am going to explain why I am such a big fan of interchangeable rechargeable batteries, and why you (and all your gadgets) should be too.

3 of the Best Hoverboards Money Can Buy

EPIKGO Self Balancing Scooter Hoverboard
The EPIKGO Self Balancing hoverboard is an all around excellent option, thanks to rugged wheels, lights and more.

If you’re thinking about buying a hoverboard for the first time or if you are new to these personal transports and are unsure what to buy, don’t worry, Gadget Review has done the research for you. It can be hard sorting through all of the specs and features, but we have boiled it down to the top 3 models to buy.

#1 hoverboard for 2018 – Swagtron T1

SWAGTRON T1
The SWAGTRON T1 is a great hoverboard, delivering the best value of all the models on the market today.

Positives

  • Charges in just 1 hour
  • The maximum range is 7-12 miles
  • Top speed of 8 MPH

Negatives

  • Lack of both Bluetooth and GPS
  • No accompanying mobile app
  • Body scratches easily

The Swagtron T1 just gives you the features you want at a great price. The 1 hour charging, and 8 MPH top speed will please just about everyone. It has a good range of 7-12 miles with a 3-hour battery life as well. Other features include a SentriShield battery pack that prevents overheating and 2 learning modes. This model just nails all of the basics very well.

#2 hoverboard for 2018 – Epikgo Self-Balancing Hoverboard

EPIKGO Self Balancing Scooter Hoverboard
The EPIKGO Self Balancing hoverboard is an all around excellent option, thanks to rugged wheels, lights and more.

Positives

  • Handles all-terrain
  • Battery charge time is under 2 hours
  • Maximum speed of 10 MPH

Negatives

  • Geared toward more experienced riders
  • Price is higher but worth it

The Epikgo Self-Balancing Hoverboard will go where others can’t since it is an All-Terrain hoverboard. The battery delivers a charge time of under 2 hours and the 400W dual hub motors deliver some serious power. Other features include 1P56 certification, large 8.5 inch tires and a maximum speed of 10 MPH. These are all very respectable features in a durable body that handles both on and off-road with ease.

# 3 hoverboard for 2018 – Halo RoveR

Halo Rover
A very versatile hoverboard with a powerful set of motors. The downside is the weight of the board itself.

Positives

  • The 800W motor is a powerhouse
  • Bluetooth speakers
  • Weight capacity of 265 lbs

Negatives

  • On the heavy side at 32 lbs
  • Expensive compared to others

The Halo Rover has a lot of cool features, which is why it’s a bit pricey compared to other hoverboards. However, it’s worth it. We were impressed by the durable build and the powerful 800W motor. It has 8.5″ tires for all-terrain, LED headlights, the ability to climb grades up to 20 degrees, water resistance, a mobile app and more. It’s on the heavy side though.

Yes, Hoverboards are Safe

A few years ago hoverboards got a bad rap for catching on fire, but you should know that these top 3 hoverboard picks all feature UL 2272 certification. This means that the device has passed electrical and fire-safety testing. Today’s hoverboards are completely safe.

Wear Protective Gear When Riding

Safety should be your priority when riding a hoverboard. You should always wear a helmet. Many people choose to wear knee and elbow pads as well. As long as you wear your safety gear and pay attention to the road ahead at all times, you will be fine.

Nighthawk X6 Review

The first feature that attracts your attention to the Netgear Nighthawk X6 is its three distinct Wi-Fi bands with varying frequencies and speed limits. It has one 2.4GHZ (600MBPS) band and two 5GHZ (1300MBPS) bands installed within a single hardware architecture. You can configure them individually according to your specific gaming and video streaming needs. It supports Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi Antennas, and the USB 3.0/2.0 ports for the maximum performance and speed.
