Tron Light Cycle Monorails (Images courtesy Sci Fi Wire)

Since the movie’s release date is still something ridiculous like 15 years away, these images are just Photoshop mockups at the moment, but eventually Disney World in Orlando will be promoting the upcoming Tron Legacy sequel by converting their monorails into light cycles. And by ‘converting’ I of course mean just covering them in light cycle graphics, but if you have a Disney vacation planned in the very near future, make sure to include Epcot where the upgraded monorails could be running as early as sometime this month.

  1. Am I the only one who thinks it's a little sad that Disneyland and Disneyworld keep changing their classic rides in order to “keep up with the times”? I mean, a sticker on the outside of the monorail isn't really a big thing. But what about the changes they made to “Pirates” after the movie came out? I think it's sad that my children won't get to experience the SAME Disneyland that I did growing up. :o(

But maybe I'm just old fashioned that way.

  2. It saddens me to see Disney using the monorail to advertise a movie. How long until you have monorail red brought to you by Google with Google ads all over the place?

  3. I don't know about everyone else, but I like them. I think it would be neat to see them running. Like Tron in real life. How cool would that be to see them zoom past you.
