Or so it would seem. See, the idea is this.

The training seat replaces your ordinary litter box and securely sits on your toilet filled with litter. Your cat naturally uses the CitiKitty training seat as its new litter box. Once your cat has adapted to the training seat you slowly begin removing the rings from the training seat reducing the amount of litter. As the rings are removed your cat will stand on the toilet seat for support and use the water below. After all rings are removed from the training seat your cat is toilet trained.

It’s brilliant!

I’d seen potty trained cats before, and like magician’s tricks, never had any clue how it was done.

Hmm… maybe that’s a bad thing. The magic is gone now.

Oh well.

Apparently this works on cats of all ages and will ring you back a mere 30$. Go here. Story VIA CoolHunting.

  1. These have been on the market for over 12 years. I don’t know what is so special about this one. I tried it somewhat successfully back then. The only problem was sometimes when you wanted to go to the bathroom, the cat was hogging the pot!

If you have had trouble getting your cat to drop his or her friends off at the pool rather than the sand box, CityKitty may be the solution for you. Consisting of a series of rings that are removed from…

  3. I bought this for my two cats and had to abandon the idea. It would have worked great if they had been a little younger. Either way you need a LOT of patience, and a second bathroom!

  4. This looks a lot like what I bought down at the local pet store for about $5. Downside is that it was pretty flimsy (good for small cats, perhaps kittens). My larger cat fell right through into the toilet. Not a pleasant experience for him, I’d imagine. Nor for me, cleaning up.

  5. Now kitties can poo like humans do

Biology-class notes from all over: Dang! This just can’t wait. We have to get Evil Dwight to test this! A kitty potty seat for training Puffins to go like the hairless bipeds do! And Smarty Matt B. has made a…

Ok, I like cats but this is a but much. BTW, if you get one of these, never bat the cats tail when it’s checking out the throne. I guess they use their tails for balance. Oh yeah, cats don’t like water.

  7. FIRST DAY ON THE TOILET WITH LITTER INSIDE. HAD TO DO A GRADUAL STACKING TO GET LITTER BOX UP TO TOILET SEAT LEVEL. THEN PUT LITTER BOX COVER ON TOP OF THE TOILET( PLASTIC STORAGE CONTAINER) THEN REMOVED THAT. IT SURE LOOKS PROMISING. P.S. I DO HAVE ANOTHER BATHROOM. IT'S A MUST. 2 KITTENS. ONE IS 4 MONTHS AND THE OTHER IS 2 MONTHS AND 1 WEEK. DON'T WORRY I'LL GIVE THEM PLENTY OF TIME……THEY WON'T FALL IN. I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED.

  8. So that’s how these work. I wonder if getting a little litter in the toilet is bad though. My other concern is, you know how cats use the bathroom and then they kick the litter around? Well, what if they do that with this? Litter would be all over the place. And, how often will they miss?
