We are big fans of sous-vide cooking at OhGizmo!. We have a full review of the Nomiku immersion circulator right here. In case you don’t know, sous-vide is a technique that involves putting your food in a sealed plastic bag and dunking it in water of a precise temperature for a long period of time. The result is tender, perfectly cooked meats and other things. It’s being used by many high-end restaurants and now increasingly by the average consumer.

The problem is that most people don’t know which temperatures to cook things at, and that’s where the Anova Precision Cooker comes in. It’s an immersion circulator that attaches to the side of your water pot, heats the water to a specific temp, and keeps it there. But the temperatures and cooking times are determined through the application, and relayed to the device via Bluetooth.

The available SDK means several applications can be developed for it, expanding the device’s utility and convenience. And then there’s the cost. A $139 pledge will get you one now, while the full retail price is still a very reasonable $170. That’s much less than most professional grade circulators, and is reaching the point where every household should seriously consider getting one.
