How many gadgets do you have that recharge via USB? Sure, you could just plug them into your PC, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a wall outlet that accommodated your recharging needs? Well now you can have just that, without the need for a plug-in adapter. Check out this TruePower UCS power socket. It uses the same connections as your existing outlets, so it’s just a matter of swapping one out for the other.
At $10 a pop, it might be worthwhile to invest in a couple. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until sometime next year for it to ship.

Does the socket its self consume any power? Does it have a surge protector to protect the device attached to the USB? Is it 5 v? Can I stick my tongue in it?
This would be perfect for all my gadgets. But I would like some guarantee that my devices wont blow up or fry.
I have zero gadgets that charge via USB.
While it could be useful right now, it won't be in a few years when everyone's electronics are using USB 3.0, which draws more power and has an elongated plug that won't fit into legacy sockets.
I'd prefer a mini-hub that just plugs in. So I could move it. Next!
