A Black i for Apple?

There’s the new black iPod nano and then there’s a potential black eye for Apple.

It seems that many iPod users that upgraded to the recently released iTunes 5 for Windows are experiencing all sorts of problems including being unable to run iTunes, losing their songs, and experiencing crashes. And most have been unable to go back to an earlier version of iTunes, leaving their iPod in limbo. Apple has been less than forthcoming, saying

Apple is aware that a limited number of customers are experiencing issues with installing iTunes 5. We’re working to resolve this and expect to have a software update early next week.

This troublesome update has cast doubt on Apple’s near infallibility and gives them a black eye. Check out Apple’s discussion board here.
