So for less than $300 you have “an LED-backlight display, speaker, adjustable display angle, 2x HDMI inputs, 1ms GTG response time, 30,000,000:1 MEGA dynamic contrast ratio, and more.” As most of these deals, shipping is included and the offer expires on February 1st.

Despite the fact that the global economy is very bad, smartphones are still growing at a significant rate. More and more computer companies are announcing that they are entering the smartphone market in an effort to improve their profits.

The latest company to announce that they are entering into the smartphone market isn’t a computer maker, but a company known for LCD TVs, digital picture frames, and PC monitors. Viewsonic has announced that it intends to enter into the smartphone market with phones aimed at video, gaming, and Internet browsing with larger screens.

Viewsonic offers no details on products at this time, but says that its smartphones will launch first in China and then come to the U.S. and Europe later. All that Viewsonic is saying about its smartphones at this time is that they will be 3G enabled and integrate well with its other product offerings.

Back when I was a kid getting a better picture on the TV Friday nights for watching Dukes of Hazard and The Incredible Hulk meant making my brother stand on one leg with tin foil in one hand and rabbit ears in the other. Today we have HD images and I have become so accustomed to the great picture quality I can hardly stand to watch SD programs.

The problem is that for people with smaller rooms and not enough space for a big 1080p TV there were few options other than a SD TV. Viewsonic has announced a new 22-inch screen TV that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 offering full HD 1080p image quality. The set has integrated ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuners, so it’s ready for the summer transition to all digital broadcasts.

The set offers an 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for picture quality and offers a full array of connectivity options. Connectivity options include HDMI, composite, component, PC, and S-Video. I’d like to see more than one HDMI input on the set, but on a screen this small one is all you get. The VT2230 is available now for $349.
