Doctor Who K-9 USB Hub Expands Your USB Plugging Capabilities

K9 USB Hub

So this doppelganger K-9 won’t be able to expand your knowledge like its original version on Doctor Who, but it will expand the USB plugging capabilities of your computer or laptop–just like any good USB hub should do. It’s perfect for Whovians who want to own a miniature replica of the Doctor’s robotic canine companion that isn’t just a replica or toy.

On second thought, it’s actually good for anyone else who’s looking for a quirky computer accessory that is able to do what it promises to.

The Doctor Who K-9 USB Hub is available for pre-order for $39.99.

USB Toaster Hub with Toast Flash Drives are Deliciously Geeky

Toaster Hub

USB hubs and custom flash drives don’t get any more adorable than this. This might not be the first time that we’ve seen quirky USB drives of this kind (remember the Mini Cooper Flash Drive?), but these certainly take the cake in their category–or is it the toast?

The hub and thumbdrives are perfectly complementary, given that the former is in the shape of a miniature toaster while the latter are shaped like teeny, tiny yummy slices of toast. Of course, the toaster hub works with USB drives of all shapes, sizes, and forms, but it’s way more fun to use it with the toast drives for obvious reasons.

The toaster hub comes with 4 USB 2.0 ports and a one-meter long cable. It’s also got an SD card reader on the side for all your card reading needs. Meanwhile, the toast flash drive has a 4GB capacity and comes in four colors (or designs): White (Tato), Yellow (Butta), Tan (Ry Ry), and Brown (Crisp).

Toast USB Drives

Unfortunately, the toaster and thumbdrives aren’t sold as a set and come off a bit pricey as a whole. The toaster hub is priced at $27.99, while each USB drive retails for $24.99.

24 Port USB Hub Is Just Not Enough

1661_super_usb_hub_1

By Evan Ackerman

24 USB 2.0 ports, you say? Some people might call that excessive. I am not one of those people, because 24 USB ports is not enough for me. I mean, after I’ve plugged in my volcano, Christmas tree, lunchbox, chameleon, missile launcher, microwave, light bulb, mouse wheel, chainsaw, ethernet hub, sunglasses, wireless HDMI adapter, cat ears, slouch meter, transfer cable, foot switch, spoonful of cereal, digital microscope, race car email notifier, am/fm radio, travel mug, micro display, shortwave radio, and Whack-A-Mole, that doesn’t leave any room for other things that may come in handy in for some specific tasks… Like, a mouse. Or a keyboard.

So obviously, it’s necessary to get more than one of these. How many, you ask? Well, if you go back to the early days when we were just a wee little blog (and for the record, at that point, I personally didn’t even know what a blog was), it turn out that OhGizmo has a total of 1,073 posts about USB stuff of varying degrees of usefulness.

Make that 1,074.

So if you want to plug all of the USB stuff that we’ve written about in at once, you’ll need 45 of these 24 port USB hubs. At $70 each, that’s $3,145. Better start saving; you can find them at USB Fever.
